Description et objectifs
This course presents the start of the spectacular growth of the US superpower and
its contradictions in the early 19th century. It will focus on economic growth, the
so-called democratization of the regime, “Indian” issues and the removal process,
the westward expansion and movement, the sectional divide and path to the Civil
War, the conflict itself and its immediate afterward and outcome, Reconstruction.
