This course comprises a cours magistral and a TD.
1) Cours magistral: An introduction to British Literature
The lecture (cours magistral) for this module consists in an introduction to British literature from the Middle Ages to the end of the seventeenth century. Handouts containing the extracts which will be studied during the course as well as other documents of interest will be given at regular intervals throughout the semester.

2) TD: An introduction to Shakespearean drama
During the first part of the semester, students will study a selection of poems by William Shakespeare contained in a brochure. The second part of the semester will be devoted to the analysis of one of his most famous plays. This course aims to provide an introduction to Shakespearean drama as well as to give students the tools they need to write a literary commentary. Another brochure with these lexical and critical tools will be given to the students.
